Julian Casablancas ‘doesn’t feel anything’ from performing Strokes songs live

Two studio albums in three years, some performances in New York this summer just gone and a promise to meet up next year for more studio sessions – it should be a golden period for The Strokes right now, yet there still seems to be something not quite right within the camp.

One of those albums was pretty much written off before it had even been released, and those New York gigs have proved to be nothing but a very rare clutch of live appearances for the band.

Now, frontman Julian Casablancas has put another downer on things by declaring that he doesn’t ‘feel anything’ from revisiting The Strokes’ back catalogue during his solo stint with The Voidz.

“A little while ago, I saw someone perform a cover of some Top 40 song in an empty bar, like he probably just learned it two days ago,” he told Rolling Stone. “He was probably enjoying playing that more than I enjoy playing ‘Last Nite’. I just smiled about it.”

Julian Casablancas released ‘Tyranny‘ last month.
