Crystal Castles have split up, apparently at the behest of singer Alice Glass who is leaving Ethan Kath behind to pursue a solo career and because of a ‘multitude of reasons both professional and personal’
“I am leaving Crystal Castles,” she wrote on her Facebook page.
“My art and my self-expression in any form has always been an attempt towards sincerity, honesty, and empathy for others. For a multitude of reasons both professional and personal I no longer feel that this is possible within CC. Although this is the end of the band, I hope my fans will embrace me as a solo artist in the same way they have embraced Crystal Castles.”
Crystal Castles emerged from Toronto with their debut album in 2008. They followed that with ‘(II)‘ – a fixture in the 2010 end-of-year lists – and ultimately were last active in 2012 with their third record ‘(III)‘. They played live only earlier this month in Mexico.
