Rarities and previously unavailable tracks to be included on new Kinks anthology

kinkssqTo celebrate the 50th anniversary of The Kinks‘ first number one single ‘You Really Got Me‘, which fed just about every new branch of rock and roll that followed it, an anthology box-set has been unveiled which is to contain over 100 songs across its five CDs.

From November 3rd, ‘The Anthology 1964-1971’ will offer remastered versions of some of The Kinks’ most celebrated tracks, along with rare demos, interviews, alternate mixes, session outtakes, 25 previously unavailable tracks, an exclusive 7” single and extensive liner notes.

Hopes remain meanwhile that the brothers Davies may also mark this Golden time with a live reunion after the pair’s famously volatile relationship apparently cooled during meetings in the summer of 2013.

These get-togethers led to Ray Davies remarking he felt a return for the band was the ‘closest it’s ever been’ after their final split in 1996, though he later added any reformation would have to centre around new material.
