Another UK festival has had to be cancelled due to poor ticket sales, leaving booked acts which included Klaxons and Gaz Coombes disappointed.

The first ever OxfordOxford was all set to be held this weekend (September 26th-28th) and, like many other brand new events, was looking to combine music with other attractions on site. There would have been cinema showings of Top Gun, Alice In Wonderland, The Goonies, Grease and Dirty Dancing over the course of the weekend, as well as a Community Day on the Saturday.

However, it hasn’t captured the imagination of enough of the Oxford population to go ahead, as a statement explains: “It is with great sadness that we have to cancel the inaugural OxfordOxford. A number of factors in September, including an uncertainty with a previously confirmed artist, alongside poor local ticket sales, have forced this decision.”

“The whole team, including partners, has tirelessly worked around the clock to try to make the event work, but unfortunately we are not in the position to continue any further.”

Tickets can be refunded online or through point-of-purchase if bought at The Truck Store, The Bullingdon, The Rusty Bicycle or The Rickety Press.
