The death of former Primal Scream guitarist and founder member Robert ‘Throb’ Young has been announced by the band’s publicist.
At the time of writing, no further details or official statements have been released, but former bandmates and friends have already begun paying their tributes to Young who left the Scream in 2006, when frontman Bobby Gillespie told the Independent:
“He’s got some problems that he’s got to sort out for himself. It’s a hard thing to talk about, because it’s private and it’s his life, and I don’t think I have the right to judge him. I’d like Throbert to be alive. I’d like him to be well. I’d like him to be happy. Further than that I can’t really say. I just hope he wants to get better.”
Amongst those to have left messages on social media are former Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher; ‘RIP Robert Young AKA ‘Throb’. Live Forever’, he wrote, while Irvine Welsh has said: ‘One of the best, the most beautiful, who WAS rock n roll. Big love bro, give them it big time over the other side’.
