Arctic Monkeys, The Black Keys and The Killers have received nominations in a couple of the categories we can just about stomach at the 2014 MTV European Music Awards.

Arctic Monkeys and The Black Keys are up for Best Rock along with Coldplay, Imagine Dragons and Linkin Park, while The Killers will compete for Best World Stage with seemingly every other artist who’s recorded such a gig, these include Kings Of Leon and again Imagine Dragons. The Best Alternative shortlist is made up of Fall Out Boy, Lana Del Rey, Lorde, Paramore and Thirty Seconds To Mars.

As for the other categories, there’s one called Best Push, whatever that is, and one which appears intent on determining the weight of audiences entitled Biggest Fans.
