The Libertines rehearsed for just one hour before their British Summer Time headline appearance at London’s Hyde Park last month, and didn’t prepare at all for the previous warm-up shows in Glasgow, according to the band’s drummer Gary Powell.

Speaking to Mojo magazine, Powell paints a typically bizarre picture of the group’s meet-up in Germany as they prepared to return to the stage for the first time in four years. It all ended in an impromptu camper van trip courtesy of Pete Doherty. “While we were inside looking around he decided to kidnap us and drove off,” Powell said. “We ended up down the Reeperbahn getting hassled by some prostitutes and watching the football. Hilarious!”

The Libertines will be back in London soon for a three night stop at the Alexandra Palace between September 26th-28th and then start their first European tour for a decade at the Zenith venue in Paris on September 30th.
