ntg1

New Tunes Guide highlights this week both come out of the US courtesy of Great Mutations and Dope Body.

Great Mutations‘ debut album ‘Cheap Stuff’ was released on July 22nd. The trio usually like to record in a church basement in Troy, New York, and their singer and guitarist Matthew Thouin has flagged up bands from The Kinks to Pavement and Guided by Voices as influences.

Dope Body are returning with their second LP ‘Life’ on October 20th following the 2012 debut ‘Natural History’, which sparked a 19-month spell of almost non-stop touring. The intervening time between releases has seen bassist John Jones, guitarist Zachary Utz and drummer David Jacober concentrate on solo projects, while frontman Laumann exhibited his art work at the Galerie Jeanrochdard in Paris, the Pre Teen Gallery in Mexico City and Signal in Brooklyn.
