The first special releases for the second annual Cassette Store Day have been revealed.

Among those aiming to provide a shot in the arm for the cassette format in the same way Record Store Day has done for vinyl are The History of Apple Pie with ‘Feel Something‘, a re-release of Courtney Barnett‘s ‘The Double EP: A Sea of Split Peas‘ and five tapes from Suplex Cassettes including UV Race’s Greatest Hits.

The UK event will be based at the at Lion Coffee + Records in London on 27th September with Kissability and Suplex Cassettes leading the way. For 2014 there’ll also be a US-centric push based at Los Angeles’ Burger Records.

“When planning this year we really tried to keep cassette labels and fans at the heart of the event,” Jen Long of Kissability has said. “Last year grew far bigger than we had expected so we are thrilled to have Burger involved to help us cover the US side.”

“Burger Records loves tapes,” the US label added. “We’ve built our foundation on the forgotten format and have been preaching the merits of warm analog cassette culture for years. We’re honored to be ambassadors of Cassette Store Day 2014 in the good ol USA!”

“We plan to bring some of our favorite labels to the table and invite everyone to the party and partake in the fun phenomena of releasing top shelf music on cassette tapes in pop culture today!”
