The definitive story of Bob Dylan and The Band‘s 1967 album ‘The Basement Tapes‘ will be told later this year as the latest of part of the legendary songwriter’s Bootleg Series reissue campaign.

On November 3rd, a 138-track ‘complete’ release will be available as a 6CD box-set, together with a 120-page book featuring liner notes and previously unseen photographs, while a 38-track ‘highlight’ edition is to be released in 3LP and 2CD formats.

Bob Dylan convalesced with The Band in New York in mid-1967 after a serious motorbike accident around a year earlier when hundreds of tracks were recorded, some of which have only just been rediscovered and restored from the original tapes by archivist and producer Jan Haust.

Those tracks quickly became a treasure trove for Dylan fans and began emerging not long after. Eventually, an official version was released in 1975.
