Brandon Flowers has confirmed to NME that he will release a second solo album next year.

Although The Killers‘ latest break isn’t as steadfast as they had at first seemed to be craving (the band headlined V Festival as recently as earlier this month), Flowers is nevertheless pressing ahead with a successor to 2010’s ‘Flamingo‘ with producer Ariel Rechtshaid.

“He’s taking me out of my comfort zone,” Flowers has said of Rechtshaid. “Normally I make demos and they’re pretty similar to how the song ends up. but he’ll take a song and be like, ‘I hear this’. It’s incredible – his palette and his range, what he’s able to say. At first we were butting our heads together, but now we’re hitting it off.”

It was guitarists Dave Keuning and Mark Stoermer who were most looking forward to another prolonged Killers break after a successful return in 2012 with ‘Battle Born‘. Indeed drummer Ronnie Vannucci is as keen to stay active as Flowers, and is expected to use the downtime to restart his own solo project Big Talk.
