Biffy Clyro frontman Simon Neil has praised the evolution in Arctic Monkeys‘ sound during the course of their five studio albums, and said he wishes ‘all British bands were like them’.

Speaking to BBC Radio 1 DJ Zane Lowe, Neil also reserved some nice words for Chvrches and Royal Blood. “People can forget how productive they’ve been,” he began on Arctic Monkeys.

“Really, they haven’t stopped at all. To still have that evolution in this record, to really take a huge step sideways and forward, it’s opened up the possibilities for the next 10 years for them as well. I wish all British bands were like this.”

“It’s just great to see a young band out there with serious aggression and knowledge of rock music, none of this kind of nonsense soft rock, you know like just a band that knows about riffs,” he continued on Royal Blood.

Biffy Clyro fulfilled a long-held ambition last weekend when they headlined T In The Park – where Arctic Monkeys also topped the bill.
