Dangerous Days‘ has been released as the first taste of Zola Jesus‘ upcoming LP ‘Taiga‘ – have a listen below.

“For me, it feels like my true debut, because it is the first time I have felt so open and liberated,” Nika Roza Danilova has said of her latest record, which will be issued on Mute.

“Taiga is the Russian name for the boreal forest. For me it feels very alive, very expansive. It represents a feral, untapped world that could happily exist without us. There are taiga forests in Northern Wisconsin where I was raised, and also in Russia where my ancestors are from, so it also feels very native.”

‘Taiga’ is due out on October 6th in the wake of 2011’s ‘Conatus‘ and the reworked edition ‘Versions‘ of last year. “Never mind that the track listing reads like a Haiku anthology,” Live4ever’s ‘Conatus’ review reads. “This music doesn’t need a woman cartwheeling around with a glittered-up toilet seat on her head to validate its avant garde credentials.”
