‘The beginning of the long goodbye’ is how Pete Townshend has described the UK arena dates which have been announced to celebrate The Who‘s 50th anniversary.

“Trying to stay young,” Townshend continues. “Not wearing socks. Growing a great big woodcutter’s beard. Might even wear a check shirt onstage and get a tattoo of a Union Jack. Always a fashion victim. But under no illusions. We are what we are, and extremely good at it, but we’re lucky to be alive and still touring.”

Townshend, along with his fellow surviving bandmate Roger Daltrey, starts the tour on November 30th in Glasgow, and moves into December with a show at the First Direct Arena in Leeds on the 2nd.

A final show at the O2 in London on December 17th follows shows in Nottingham, Birmingham, Newcastle, Liverpool, Manchester and Cardiff.
