Remastered Beatles albums in mono to be re-released

The Beatles‘ back catalogue has been remastered in mono at Abbey Road and will be released on 180g vinyl later this year.

On September 8th, 14 LPs in total are due out either individually or in box-set form including the likes of ‘Please Please Me‘, ‘With The Beatles‘, ‘Rubber Soul‘, ‘Revolver‘, ‘Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band‘ and a collection of non-album tracks packaged up as ‘Mono Masters‘.

As, up until 1969’s ‘Abbey Road‘, the versions specifically signed off by The Beatles themselves, the mono mixes are often favoured by fans of the band over the now far more widespread stereo editions which were created by studio engineers after the Fab Four had completed their recording sessions.

Not only that, certain tracks such as ‘Revolution‘ (below) and ‘Eleanor Rigby‘ are striking in their superior sound on mono when compared to the stereo mixes, while plenty more variations – some more subtle than others – can also be found throughout the legendary group’s work.
