Mumford & Sons and their rolling Gentlemen Of The Road carnival will host a festival within a festival at Glastonbury this weekend.

The band, who headlined the Pyramid Stage last year, will be back in a less high profile role twelve months on and have curated a day’s line-up for the Avalon Cafe in the Field Of Avalon, with Michael Kiwanuka, Johnny Flynn, Nick Mulvey, King Charles, Rubblebucket and Bear’s Den all early confirmations, while ‘some expected and unexpected surprises’ are also promised for Saturday, June 28th. Comedian Thomas Gray is to open proceedings, and his fellow comic Alfie Brown will act as compere.

Meanwhile, as the gates to Worthy Farm open today a traditionally wet weekend is being forecast for the over 100,000 attendees. While early predictions gave hope for a sunny weekend, the BBC is now warning of thundery downpours, with showers expected on Thursday just nicely as most festival-goers are attempting to pitch their tents.

Arcade Fire are the first main stage headliner for 2014, and will be followed by Metallica and Kasabian.
