Nicky Wire believes Manic Street Preachers fans will discover an album that is the ‘polar opposite’ of last year’s ‘Rewind The Film‘ when they get their hands on ‘Futurology‘ next month.

“It’s quite an optimistic record for us actually, full of life and vitality,” Wire tells XFM. “‘Rewind The Film’ was very much the polar opposite, the tender acoustic intimate mid-life crisis album, but this album just feels brimming with ideas and vitality.”

“We kind of did them together, it’s a very schizophrenic experience but then we’re very schizophrenic people,” he continues of the two LPs. “We recorded so many tracks over the last two years it felt pretty obvious they didn’t fit together so it’s kind of both sides of out psyche.”

The Manics will be at Glastonbury next week; they play the festival’s Other Stage on the Saturday immediately before Pixies and headliner Jake Bugg.
