Yeah Yeah Yeahs‘ Karen O will release her debut solo album Julian Casablancas‘ Cult Records label in a few months time.
A deeply personal affair, ‘Crush Songs‘ has material written between 2006-2007, and is to come with ‘personal drawings, handwritten lyric and more’. It is released on September 9th.
“When I was 27 I crushed a lot,” Karen O says. “I wasn’t sure I’d ever fall in love again. These songs were written and recorded in private around this time. They are the soundtrack to what was an ever continuing love crusade. I hope they keep you company on yours.”
“So excited, lucky and proud to be involved with such a classic album,” Casablancas adds. “I just wanna listen to it all day. Karen is an all-time great.”
Karen O’s previous work away from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs includes ‘The Moon Song‘ from the film Her for which she was nominated for an Academy Award.
