Jack White won’t be repeating ‘Lazaretto’s recording process

Jack White abandoned his usual razor sharp recording sessions for a more careful, labour intensive approach on new solo album ‘Lazaretto‘. But he won’t be doing it again.

“We would stop in Nashville to rehearse or something and we’d go into my studio for a few days and do whatever came to mind,” White explains during an interview with XFM. “I thought, ‘I’ll come back and finish these later when the tour is over and I have a minute’, but it ended up being a really long process, the longest I’d ever been a part of. Some of these songs I think ended up working on them for two years.”

“It was a bad idea in a lot of cases because six, seven months on I was realising man, I can’t write vocals for this song, I don’t even know what this song is any more,” he continues. “The end result I’m really proud of and I feel like I really got some place new but the struggle was not the kind of struggle I’m into.”

‘Lazaretto’ sees Jack White, ‘Showcasing a talented mastery of many genres, yet remaining steadfastly his own work’, according to Live4ever’s review which you can read in full here.
