Arcade Fire are one of the leading contenders for this year’s Polaris Music Prize after its longlist was revealed today (June 21st).

The award, which aims to highlight the best music Canada has to offer, was presented to a less than impressed Godspeed! You Black Emperor in 2013 and will whittle down these initial names to a final shortlist on July 15th, with the winner then being announced on September 22nd.

As well as Arcade Fire, other artists likely to feature prominently in judges’ thoughts include PUP, Solids and Owen Pallett.
