Alt-J were at the BBC studios yesterday evening (June 18th) for the premiere of their new single ‘Hunger Of The Pine‘ – have a listen over at NPR through this link.

The track is the first glimpse of the band’s forthcoming second album ‘This Is All Yours‘ as they begin the taxing process of following up 2012’s Mercury winning debut ‘An Awesome Wave‘.

Since then, bass player Gwil Sainsbury has departed – something discussed by Gus Unger-Hamilton when peaking to the BBC’s Zane Lowe. “He left right before we started making the album basically,” Unger-Hamilton said.

“He was not enjoying aspects of the lifestyle of being in a band. I think there’ll be some people coming on tour with us. I think it’s gonna be just fine.”

Alt-J hit the road for a handful of UK tour dates shortly before their latest album is released on September 22nd. Those start four days earlier at the Glasgow O2 Academy.
