Tony Iommi: British Summer Time show could be Black Sabbath’s last

Tony Iommi has suggested Black Sabbath‘s headline show at British Summer Time in July could prove to be the band’s last due any lack of concrete future plans.

“It could be the last ever Sabbath show,” Iommi revealed to Metal Hammer. “I don’t want it to be, but there’s nothing really planned touring-wise after that show, so for all we know that could be it really. To be honest I don’t want to be touring to this extent too much longer, because it makes me feel so bad.”

Black Sabbath returned at the start of 2012 with intentions for a world tour and new album, intentions which had to be largely postponed after Iommi was diagnosed with cancer very soon after.

A well received album, ‘13‘, did eventually emerge last year and Iommi completed his treatment in March, but he went on to explain that he will have to return to hospital soon for an update on his health.

“I’m at a stage now where I have no support, which means I have to see whether the cancer is coming back or if it’s still there or what,” he continued. “I just don’t know. It’s a bit of a worry. After we finish this tour I’ll go in and have scan, so we’ll see what that shows up.”

Black Sabbath play Hyde Park for British Summer Time on July 4th. Motorhead, Faith No More and Soundgarden are among the other bands playing that day.
