The Libertines have confirmed their second headline festival booking of the summer.

The band, whose latest reunion was rubber-stamped when they were added to British Summer Time in London’s Hyde Park on July 5th, will now join Kasabian, Tinie Tempah and Paolo Nutini as the final main act for the 2014 Benicàssim Festival, held between July 17th-20th.

Also on the bill that day (Saturday, July 19th) are the likes of Lily Allen, Example, Katy B and the Manic Street Preachers. The announcement increases the activity of a group which first disbanded in a less than satisfactory way back in 2004, and returned all too briefly in 2010 for mesmerising Reading/Leeds headline performances.

Both Pete Doherty and Carl Barat have spoken of their desire to have new material ready for the live comeback; “We were talking about doing some new songs,” Doherty most recently told NME.

“Or even better, finishing some old songs that we always knew should have been on ‘Up The Bracket’ if we could have been arsed. I could hum them and Carl would know about them.”
