Nick Cave, London Grammar win at 2014 Ivor Novello Awards

Nick Cave, London Grammar and James Blake were some of the main winners at this afternoon’s (May 22nd) Ivor Novello Awards, which took place at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London.

Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds‘ ‘Push The Sky Away‘ beat the much lauded ‘AM‘ from Arctic Monkeys and Laura Mvula‘s ‘Sing To The Moon‘ to claim the prestigious Album Award, while London Grammar picked up the prize for Best Song Musically and Lyrically thanks to ‘Strong‘, beating Palma Violets‘ ‘Best Of Friends‘ and John Newman‘s ‘Love Me Again‘ in the process.




Mercury Prize winner James Blake added the Best Contemporary Song prize to his mantlepiece as ‘Retrograde‘ came out on top in that category.

Other winners included The SpecialsJerry Dammers, whose work with the iconic band and the 2Tone label helped him to the Inspiration Award, while Fleetwood Mac’s Christine McVie was presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award and Nile Rodgers was given the PRS For Music Special International Award.
