Jarvis Cocker is to take a break from radio and concentrate on writing new songs.

Cocker, who presents a popular Sunday afternoon show on BBC 6Music, has also spent the last couple of years reviving Pulp for various live shows.

That reunion however, now at an end, did not result in any new material from the band with the exception of a reworked version of the 2001 demo ‘After You‘, while his last solo album was released in 2009.

Now, during an interview with The Guardian, Cocker has suggested that studio inactivity could be coming to an end as he looks to ‘find out if he’s got any interesting songs left to write’.

“Whether it’s to impress girls, or whatever, music is the thing that has become my means of self-expression, so this year I’m taking a break from the radio show to find out if I’ve got any interesting songs left to write or whether I’ve written them all,” he says.
