Carl Barat has used Twitter to confirm The Libertines will perform a warm-up show at the Glasgow Barrowlands shortly before their headline appearance at the British Summer Time festival.

Barat, along with Pete Doherty, John Hassall and Gary Powell, play the Barrowlands on June 29th – a week before their appearance at London’s Hyde Park on July 5th. The Libertines also headline Benicassim on Saturday, July 19th.

Both Barat and Doherty have spoken of their desire to have new material ready to perform when they return to the live stage for the first time since 2010.

“I’m seeing Pete next week and we’ll get the guitars out,” Barat told The Independent. “Hopefully we’ll come up with some new songs for Hyde Park.”

Similarly, Doherty revealed to NME that ideas both new and old could be explored in time for Hyde Park. “We were talking about doing some new songs,” he said. “Or even better, finishing some old songs that we always knew should have been on ‘Up The Bracket’ if we could have been arsed. I could hum them and Carl would know about them.”
