White Lies have been confirmed as the main support for Kings Of Leon‘s outdoor gig at Newcastle’s St James’ Park stadium next month.

The London band will back the Followill family on Saturday, May 31st at a gig which begins Kings Of Leon’s ambitious UK and Ireland touring plans for this spring. Those also include arena dates in Glasgow, Sheffield and Manchester, and further outdoor concerts in Milton Keynes and Dublin.

For their part, White Lies have UK festival bookings at the Truck event in Oxfordshire and Y Not in August amongst others after releasing the ‘BIG TV‘ album last year.

“The Joy Division genetic strands are still apparent however in the album opener and title track, as McVeigh’s reverberating baritone sifts through a slow paced, cutting instrumental, before shifting midway into a New Order-evoking new wave electronic pulse,” Live4ever’s review reads.

“This builds to a recognisable electric guitar surge for the chorus as the volume’s cranked up around McVeigh’s socially detached cries of, ‘Why can’t anything be real? Emotions like the movie screen’.”
