The Libertines planning warm-up show before British Summertime comeback

The Libertines are planning at least one small warm-up show prior to their return as festival headliners at British Summertime this July – just as they did before the last live reunion in 2010.

“There’ll be a warm-up, and there might be a free one for people who can’t get into Hyde Park, maybe,” Pete Doherty has told NME.

“We did mention it would be nice to do a warm-up – I’m sure the people who look at that stuff are fully clued up enough to leave the options open,” Carl Barat added. “It’d be cool to do somewhere of a similar size to The Forum, somewhere where the audience is likely to be one that’s really into it and potentially starved of it perhaps. Not giving away too many clues there.”

The Libertines’ first live outing since the Reading/Leeds festival of 2010 was confirmed today. Their bill-topping appearance at British Summertime is set to take place on July 5th at London’s Hyde Park, with special guests The Pogues, Spiritualized, Maximo Park and The Enemy.
