The Black Keys: ‘People want us to fuck it all up’

The Black Keys‘ drummer Patrick Carney believes the commercial success enjoyed by the duo since 2010’s ‘Brothers‘ LP means people now want them to ‘fuck it all up’.

Carney makes the admission during an interview with Mojo ahead of the release of The Black Keys’ latest studio offering ‘Turn Blue‘.

“I don’t view us as underdogs any more,” Carney says. “In fact, I view us as more of a target now. I think there’s probably people that just want us to fuck it all up. It’s inevitable that you fuck it up somehow. It makes more sense to the universe if we fuck up, d’you know what I mean?”

‘Turn Blue’ has been produced by the band along with the not-inconsiderable help of Danger Mouse. It is set for release on May 12th. “On this record, we let the songs breathe and explored moods, textures and sounds. We’re excited for the world to hear ‘Turn Blue’,” Carney previously said.
