Pete Doherty fuels rumours of Libertines reunion this summer

The Libertines are all set to reform for a show in Hyde Park this summer, according to various reports.

A Hyde Park-dedicated post on the band’s official Facebook page has coincided with quotes attributed to Pete Doherty where he apparently claims to have agreed to play live with The Libertines this coming July for the first time since 2010.

“I don’t know if I’m supposed to even tell you this, but we were offered to reform the Libertines for a show this July in Hyde Park,” he is quoted as saying, via Music Charger. “I got the call just yesterday.”

“Well, I said yes. The thing is when I think about it now it was kind of a strange answer because I think in most days if you asked me the same question I would say no, but recently I tried to call Carl and couldn’t reach him.”

The Libertines made a successful live return in 2010, primarily for that year’s Reading/Leeds festival, yet any hopes of those shows sparking a more permanent comeback have since slowly dissipated.

Carl Barat has just launched his brand new group The Jackals, who are expected to release an album later this year.
