Live4ever’s New Tunes Guide feat. The Wands, Death Valley Sleepers and more

April rings in with New Tunes Highlights from The Wands and Death Valley Sleepers.

The Wands are a Danish psych duo formed in 2011 by childhood friends Christian Skibdal and Mads Gräs. Bursting out of Copenhagen, they played their first show in a dark living room in an old villa belonging to their friends. In August 2012 they were picked up by Fuzz Club Records which lead to the pressing of their debut EP ‘Hello I Know The Blow You Grow Is Magic’. The band is now working hard on their debut album from which first single ‘The Dawn’ is set to be released in April 2014 on Levitation Records & Fuzz Club Records.

Death Valley Sleepers started in 2008 as a solo project by singer and guitarist Tobias Winberg. Since then the group has grown to consist of 6 members and has among other things toured around Europe with The Asteroids Galaxy Tour. In April 2012 the band released their first album ‘Death Valley Sleepers’.

It’s all about the sound really.

The skitter of a drum machine, the romance of the 808 kicking “Manchester” into life, the howling feedback that links The Who to Jesus And the Mary Chain…to Napalm Death, the jangle that stretches from the Beatles to Arctic Monkeys, the soul groove that pulls back from Alex Turner’s Sheffield lads to Marvin Gaye and rebounds to Robin Thicke.

What you need is something that can handle all of those sounds. Something that will cope with whatever mood you’re in. Something that will be true to what you need to hear.

ei8htball. It’s all in your head.
