Jack White will aim to achieve ‘the world’s fastest released record’ during this month’s Record Store Day celebrations.

Always one for an interesting challenge, White will saddle up to his Third Man Records saloon in Nashville to begin the recording at 10am local time on April 19th, recording straight to acetate with the intention of having a special, live edition of his newly announced second album ‘Lazaretto‘s title-track ready to put on the shelves that same day after the tapes are carted off to nearby United Record Pressing for completion.

As ever, there are a number of special releases and events taking place on both sides of the Atlantic for this year’s Record Store Day with the aim of promoting and supporting the traditional vinyl format and independent music outlets.

These include in-store gigs at Rough Trade’s bases in both London and New York, live EPs from Tame Impala and Jake Bugg, a re-release of The Inspiral Carpets‘ so-called ‘lost’ debut album and a reissue of Oasis‘ maiden single ‘Supersonic‘.
