Arctic Monkeys, London Grammar and Palma Violets are among the 2014 acts in the running for a coveted Ivor Novello Award.

Arctic Monkeys are heading towards more recognition for their 2013 LP ‘AM‘, and go up against Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds‘ ‘Push The Sky Away‘ and Laura Mvula‘s ‘Sing To The Moon‘ for the Album Award, while London Grammar and Palma Violets are both nominated in the Best Song Musically and Lyrically category thanks to ‘Strong‘ and ‘Best Friends‘ respectively.

“The Ivors nominations clearly reflect the health of British songwriting and composing, highlighting the wealth of creative talent the UK possesses,” BASCA (British Academy of Songwriters, Composers and Authors) chairman, Simon Darlow says.

“BASCA is delighted that The Ivors continue to be the award songwriters and composers want to win, and I congratulate everyone represented here today.”

The 59th Ivor Novello Awards will take place on May 22n at Grosvenor House in London.
