Albert Hammond Jr. has swiftly added to Julian Casablancas‘ brief Strokes update by outlining his hope that the band will release a new album next year.

“I imagine there’ll be Strokes activity throughout the year and then hopefully – maybe – an album in the new year,” he told NME.

“That’s the dream. Am I saying that’s what’s happening? No. But I’m saying that’s definitely, probably, in everybody’s minds. We’re definitely not a band that would play these shows just to randomly play them.”

This follows Casablancas’ comments to La Tercera earlier this week, when the singer revealed that they are, ‘Trying to carry on as friends, taking it easy, recording a couple of songs, and doing a couple of shows’.

The Strokes will be back home in New York this coming June for what is now a rare live appearance at the city’s Governors Ball festival, held at Randall’s Island Park over the weekend of June 6th-8th.
