“The most obvious theme that runs through the entire album is the idea of The Outsider,” Daniel Hopewell of The Crookes says of their new album ‘Soapbox‘, which will be released next month.

“As a band that seems to suit us. I can empathise more with the madman standing on his soapbox, slowly gaining an audience by speaking with passion and honesty,” he continues.

‘Soapbox’ is out on April 14th through Fierce Panda, as being promoted with the second single ‘Don’t Put Your Faith In Me‘, which is due to follow on May 5th.

“We recorded at the very top of a mountain – quite literally in a cloud – in a very old church dedicated to San Antonio,” Daniel explains of the album’s creation. “We saw nobody for weeks on end and quickly forgot about the outside world. We nearly crashed and died trying to get all the gear up the narrow winding road that took you to Valle di Preone, a road marked with monuments for all the people who had slipped off before.”

We met up with the Crookes at SXSW in Austin Texas last week . Stay tuned for our sit down interview coming soon.
