Spokesperson denies Morrissey will play Manchester’s Summer In The City

morrisseyOrganisers of Manchester’s Summer In The City festival have denied the event will host a homecoming for Morrissey after James musician Larry Gott yesterday (March 6th) told Lauren Laverne’s BBC 6Music show that his band were going to be joined on the bill by the former Smiths singer.

The inaugural event occurs on July 10th and 11th at the Castlefield Bowl, and currently has Pixies and James on its line-up, with Royal Blood and Starsailor as the respective special guests.

However, despite Gott’s sudden revelation, a spokesperson has said Morrissey’s name is not expected to add to that quartet any time soon.

“The event organisers are unaware of any plans to put Morrissey on in Manchester at all this summer,” the brief statement reads.

Morrissey will though be in the States soon for a tour which has sparked a few column inches thanks to the support bookings of Sirs Tom Jones and Cliff Richard for shows in Los Angeles and Brooklyn. His new album has been confirmed to carry the title ‘World Peace Is None Of Your Business‘.
