Johnny Marr has said the broken hand he suffered earlier this month hasn’t delayed work on his second solo album with a September release expected. “I think I’ve got all the songs written now,” Marr explained in NME.

“Luckily it’s just the vocals I’ve got to do now – managed to get the guitars down before this,” he continued, referring to his arm being in a cast. “It’s cool. It’s got a real London feel, this album. I’m recording it down there at a studio near the river – I want to capture this busy, loud, very modern place.”

On his injury, Marr has previously explained: “I was running pretty fast and just went straight over. I banged my shoulder and then realised my hand was in a bad way. Obviously we’re hoping there’s no long term damage.”

The new album will follow Johnny Marr’s maiden solo effort ‘The Messenger‘ – released in the February of 2013.
