Rare Led Zeppelin ‘Physical Graffiti’ tapes to be auctioned

ledzeppelinUnreleased demo tapes recorded by Led Zeppelin as they crafted the stone-wall classic 1975 double album ‘Physical Graffiti‘ are being auctioned off courtesy of the Ron Nevison collection next month.

According to Rolling Stone, RR Auctions report many of the songs being ‘structurally different’ from the those that emerged officially on ‘Physical Graffiti’. They were laid down inside Ronnie Lane‘s Mobile Studio with audio engineer Ron Nevison, who also now has rarities from Bad Company, Eric Clapton, The Who and Ozzy Osbourne up for grabs.

Some of the Led Zep tapes being sold are a very early mix of ‘Kashmir‘ – then going under the slightly longer working title ‘Driving To Kashmir’ – and alternate mixes of ‘Trampled Underfoot‘ and ‘Custard Pie‘. Short trailers can be watched via YouTube (below).

Meanwhile, a highlight of the ‘non-Ron Nevison’ items being offered by RR Auctions’ Marvels Of Modern Music sale is a signed UK first pressing of The Beatles‘ ‘Twist & Shout‘ EP.
