New York Sound City announces early acts for 2014

pinsThe New York Sound City showcase, a twin event of the more long-running Liverpool Sound City, has announced its first acts for 2014.

“We’re really pleased the way the live bill is shaping up,” David Pichilingi, CEO of Sound City, reflects. “It’s a diverse cross section of what’s happening on the live scene in the UK at the moment and represents some of the really fresh sounds coming out of British cities. We’ve still got a couple of tricks up our sleeves though and we’ll be announcing some really exciting extra acts and additions to the conference programme over the next few weeks.”

PINS (pic) and Clubs and Spades – who feature original Arctic Monkeys bassist Andy Nicholson – are on the bill, as is rapper Skepta who will the daytime conference ‘Grime: Ten Years Later’ at the Wythe Hotel in Williamsburg, Brooklyn on March 17th before performing that evening at the Knitting Factory.

“The New York Sound City event is gonna be a hype,” Skepta believes. “Grime has been getting a lot love lately in New York so it’ll be good to see what people really know. Definitely gonna drop some new shit off my album in the making (Konnichiwa). The Knitting Factory sound system better not be a fisher price ting.”
