“It’s really fun,” Bastille frontman Dan Smith tells BBC Newsbeat. “I’d never been to Ibiza or Mallorca before, so it was great to go and see the island and wonder round. It’s quite an interesting place to play a gig, you are in this courtyard of a hotel.”
“There’s people jumping about and dancing but there’s also people on the balconies looking down on you. We’re really happy to be asked back.”
Rudimental and Ed Sheeran – who says, “I played at the Mallorca and Ibiza Rocks opening parties 2 years ago and had a lot of fun,” – are also new names on the bill, joining Haim, The 1975 and more.
The opening party on Ibiza is due to be held on June 3rd, with Mallorca following a day later. Gigs are then held concurrently on the two islands until mid-September.
