Jake Bugg has said he ‘doesn’t really want to go’ to the Brit Awards tonight (February 19th), but will turn up to the ceremony because he has ‘nothing else to do’.

Bugg is nominated for British Male Solo Artist at the 2014 Brits, where he will go up against David Bowie, Mercury winner James Blake, John Newman and Tom Odell.

“I don’t really want to go but I might as well,” Bugg told his local paper the Nottingham Post. “I’ve got nothing else to do. I love the party afterwards, don’t get me wrong, they’re great but the actual event is pretty boring when you have to watch those crap acts perform.”

This year’s Brit Awards take place at the O2 Arena in London. As well as his British Male Solo Artist nomination, David Bowie is also up for British Album Of The Year thanks to ‘The Next Day‘. Arctic Monkeys are also in that section; the Sheffield band matched Bowie’s double nod, and will in addition compete for British Group.
