Echo & The Bunnymen have revealed the title for their upcoming new album and have also outlined details of the UK tour promised last week.

Meteorites‘ (artwork left) is set to follow 2009’s ‘The Fountain‘ ‘in the near future’ and, according to an update given on Facebook last week, has been produced by Flood:

“We are very excited to announce that the brand new studio album produced by Youth (The Verve, Embrace etc) is nearing completion and that a title and artwork are decided plus a full European tour already booked. US dates to follow,” the post read. “Ian feels it’s the band’s best work for a very long time.”

The UK leg of that European tour begins on May 2nd at the Assembly Rooms in Leamington Spa and, after a short break, moves on to the Oxford Academy on the 10th. Dates continue until May 20th when Ian McCulloch and co. are due to return home for a gig at Liverpool’s Philharmonic Hall on May 20th.
