Carl Barat explains decision to form new band

carlbaratwide“I kind of crave that volatility and chaos that comes with being in a band,” Carl Barat tells NME as he leaves behind his solo career and begins to assemble a brand new group.

The one-time Libertines and Dirty Pretty Things man had been expected to follow-up his 2010 self-titled debut solo album at some stage this year, but last month revealed he ‘didn’t want to be a solo artist anymore’ and was instead setting his sights on forming the third band of his career before that collection sees the light of day.

“I want other people to have the same priorities and objectives when they come on stage – I don’t want people looking at their watches thinking about how much they’re getting paid,” Barat continues in his conversation with NME. “I want everyone to be together. I guess in a band have these allies around you. It’s about being part of something that’s bigger than its individual parts.”
