Blondie have seemingly taken it upon themselves to confirm an appearance at this year’s Glastonbury Festival.

Metro reports singer Debbie Harry as telling them on the red carpet at yesterday’s NME Awards (February 26th) that the band had ‘just heard’ they would be playing the Worthy Farm event in June.

To-date, only a handful of bands have been confirmed for the festival – one of those being Arcade Fire who will top the Pyramid Stage on Friday, June 27th. As ever, Prince remains hotly tipped to also headline, and the same goes for Fleetwood Mac who remain the leading bookies tip.

After successfully riding out the kind of problems many summer festivals are now facing in 2008, Glastonbury continues to go from strength to strength and reportedly received registrations from over one million people ahead of the general sale last October. In the end, well over 100,000 tickets were snapped up within just one hour and 27 minutes of going onsale – a record for the event.
