The album recorded by Wilko Johnson with The Who‘s Roger Daltreyfirst discussed by the former Dr. Feelgood guitarist last September – has had its concrete details confirmed.

Going Back Home‘ will be released by the specially reformed Chess record label on March 10th, and comprises ten original tracks some of which stretch back to Johnson’s Dr. Feelgood days, as well as a cover of Bob Dylan’s ‘Can You Please Crawl Out Your Window‘.

The pair will perform songs from the album during a one-off gig at the Shepherd’s Bush Empire in London on February 25th.

“It turned out we both loved Johnny Kidd & The Pirates,” Roger Daltrey remembers, thinking back to their first meeting 2010. “They’d been a big influence on both our bands. That heavy power trio sound, backing up a singer; it’s a British institution. No-one does that better than us.”

Wilko Johnson has proved to be a true inspiration since announcing he would not be seeking treatment for the pancreatic cancer he was diagnosed with in 2013. He subsequently embarked on a ‘farewell’ tour which in the end continued for a large chunk of last year.
