Pixies have wasted no time in making good on their promise to produce more new music in 2014 with the announcement of ‘EP-2‘ – a collection of four tracks which is to be made available exclusively on their official website as a DDL (mp3 only), lossless DDL, limited edition 10-inch vinyl and as part of special bundles.
The four new songs are ‘Blue-Eyed Hexe‘, ‘Magdalena‘, ‘Greens and Blues‘ and ‘Snakes‘, the first of which has had a video premiered (below) and been described by frontman Black Francis thus:
“It’s a tale from the northwestern part of the UK, and it’s a witch-woman kind of a song. That’s what a ‘hexe’ is, and ours is a blue-eyed hexe.”
“Gil wanted a swagger, he wanted the guitar solo to sound like you’re going to have sex with this blue-eyed hexe,” guitarist Joey Santiago added.
Pixies’ North American tour kicks off at the Massey Hall in Toronto on January 15th.
