Red Hot Chili Peppers have had their place at this summer’s Isle Of Wight festival confirmed, joining the previously announced Friday night headliners Biffy Clyro.

The Californian band head the main stage on Saturday, June 14th when they will make their first UK festival appearance since 2007.

“To headline the Isle of Wight Festival is a once in a lifetime opportunity, following in the footsteps of Jimi Hendrix and The Doors,” the band’s statement reads. “When we were offered the slot, we jumped at the chance… it will be our only show in the UK/Ireland this year so we intend to make it really special.”

Also on the bill for June are Rudimental, Calvin Harris, Passenger, The Waterboys and The 1975. Promoter Ed Giddings is looking forward to his Friday night headliners, and said last month:

“Friday night is going to kick it out of the park with Biffy and Calvin and special guests Rudimental – I can’t wait. Having Passenger and The 1975 already on board we’re set for one of our most contemporary years, with the class of The Waterboys complementing the young guns nicely.”
