Morrissey is said to be ‘thrilled’ after penning a new record deal with the US-based Harvest Records in readiness for the release of a new album.

Earlier this month, the singer told fans during a Q&A on True To You that he was ready to start work on a new LP, with one track confirmed to be titled ‘Istanbul‘ – inspired by what he described as ‘second to Rome as my most favorite city in the world’.

And now the news that Morrissey has finally found a new home for his music means that album is slated for release in the second half of this year as sessions take place in France with producer Joe Chiccarelli.

“Morrissey is clearly one of music’s most important and influential artists,” Capitol Music Group Chairman and CEO Steve Barnett states. “He is the rare soul who has stayed consistently true to his artistic vision and ethical principles since he first exploded onto the scene in the 1980s. We are so happy that he has chosen Capitol Music Group as his home and that his forthcoming album on Harvest will bring new Morrissey music to the world.”
