Morrissey – still sans a record label – is about to begin work on a new album.

Morrissey spilled the beans during a chat with fans on True To You, revealing one track is entitled ‘Istanbul‘; inspired by one of his favourite cities in the world.

“Well, we are about to record our new album, and one of the tracks is called ‘Istanbul’,” he revealed. “It is second to Rome as my most favorite city in the world. When I’m in Istanbul I feel as if I could never die. My life is matched.”

During the Q&A, Morrissey also disclosed that the success of his autobiography, released via Penguin Classics in the UK late last year, has persuaded him to start writing his first novel…we’ll see.

“In 2013 I published my Autobiography and it has been more successful than any record I have ever released, so, yes, I am mid-way through my novel,” he said. “I have my hopes.”

Although Morrissey: Autobiography became the fastest selling memoir from the pen of a musician when it arrived on the bookshelves last October, one man who has vowed to never read the book is Morrissey’s former Smiths bandmate Mike Joyce – who famously took the singer, and guitarist Johnny Marr, to court in the mid-Nineties claiming unpaid royalties.

“I’ve not read the book, and I never will,” Joyce told Q Magazine. “I’ve got a pretty good idea of what’s in there. I don’t want to go down that route of putting out a statement saying that this or that is wrong.”
