‘Too Much Information’ is the relatively swift successor to 2012’s ‘The National Health‘ – something which didn’t seem on the cards when frontman Paul Smith spoke to The Sun soon after that release and hinted at an uncertain future for the group.
“We ask questions about ourselves before each record,” he said. “Before this one we were like, ‘Does the world need another Maximo Park record?’. We wrote some songs and came to the conclusion that it does.”
“Music means a lot to us so we’d feel like we were betraying music if we put out a record that we didn’t believe in,” he continued. “If this turns out to be our last record, maybe we’ll pick it up again in 20 years’ time.”
